Carey
Peter qualified as a UK solicitor in 1990. After gaining
a Masters in International Business Law in Texas in
1993, Peter spent six years as a Senior Lecturer at
The College of Law, the UKs leading legal education
provider. Currently, Peter is head of the Data Protection
Team at Charles Russell, and has established a reputation
as one of the UKs leading data protection and
privacy experts. Peter has written the UKs leading
book on data protection and is editor of the journal,
Privacy & Data Protection.
Peter advises commercial organisations of varying sizes on all aspects of data protection compliance. Clients include a major water utility, several charities, a global telecommunications services provider, one of the worlds largest medical data suppliers and several e-commerce companies.
Peter regularly speaks at major privacy conferences and is an acknowledged and accomplished professional speaker. He conducts data protection audits for international commercial organisations and provides training courses in data protection compliance in all fields, including human resources departments, charities, marketing executives and lawyers.
David
Berry
David specialises in advising on non-contentious corporate
and commercial issues in the IT and communications sector,
which invariably includes data protection matters, together
with work on outsourcing, large scale projects, venture
capital transactions and international joint ventures.
He is Head of the Corporate and Commercial Service
Group and chairs the "ebusiness at CR" breakfast
seminars for clients of the firm.
Recent talks include presenting a paper to the financial
services industry on data exports. He has also written
on data protection and security issues for the Computer
Law and Security Report.
Robin
Bynoe
Robin advises on general non-contentious IP, publishing,
film, TV, franchising; and sport and entertainment.
He also spects of IT work, for owners developers and
users of software, and Internet related work. He advises
regularly on gaming and lotteries, particularly the
multi-jurisdictional issue raised by online betting
and lotteries.
Andrew
Sharpe
Andrew specialises in Information Technology (all commercial
aspects, including e-commerce matters and IT outsourcing);
Telecommunications (all commercial aspects and regulatory
matters); Intellectual Property (Non-contentious matters
concerning copyright) Data Protection (including online
privacy issues, employee monitoring, data preservation
and retention) and Freedom of Information. Andrew joined
Charles Russell in 2002, prior to this he was a telecommunications
regulatory lawyer at Clifford Chance. He regularly lectures
and carries out data protection and freedom of information
law seminars for clients including conducting tailored
training at clients premises. He has had data

Carolyn
Bigg
Carolyn qualified at Charles Russell in 2003. She specialises
in non-contentious IT, telecoms, IP and data protection
law. Carolyn has advised various commercial organisations
(including clients to whom she was seconded) on their
data protection policies and compliance issues.
Charissa
Gooch
Charissa qualified into the Employment and Pensions
Service Group in September 2004 after completing her
training contract at Charles Russell. Charissa advises
on all aspects of employment law and has experience
in advising clients on data protection issues in an
employment context. During her training contract, Charissa
was seconded to Cable & Wireless plc for 3 months.
