Our planning team has broad and in-depth experience. Our work with and for local authorities means we have a full understanding of how best to use the system. Our expertise is applied in a pragmatic manner and covers the law relevant to strategic planning, enforcement and development control matters, compulsory purchase, highways and related local government issues.

Ben specialises in all aspects of the planning system, acting for a range of developers, landowners, local authorities and other public bodies. His field of work includes compulsory purchase, as well as statutory challenges / judicial review, and has particular experience in relation to planning for new housing settlements, mixed use schemes, highways, and telecommunications development. Recent high profile projects include advising a developer consortium on the new Milton Keynes 'roof tax', the first new model ‘tariff’ based on s106 agreements in the UK, and advising joint local authorities in relation to the planning for Sherford new community in Devon (5,000 houses). Previous projects include advising the National Trust on a road tunnel scheme and new visitor centre at Stonehenge.

Julia joined the team in 2003 and advises on all aspects of planning law.
