The mismanagement of disciplinary and grievance matters costs
employers both time and money and with the introduction by
the Government of new statutory disciplinary and grievance
procedures from October 2004, the importance of getting it
right is further highlighted. The new regime will mean that
any procedural failure will result in an automatic unfair
dismissal. This, together with potential uplifts or reductions
on awards of between 10 - 50%, means it is an issue employers
cannot afford to ignore.
