Since its introduction in 1996, the Disability Discrimination Act has proven to be a difficult area for employers and has resulted in many significant Tribunal decisions and awards. It is a moving feast, as codes of practice, regulations and case law extend its boundaries and application. In this session we re-visit the core concepts at play before examining the practical impact of these on day-to-day HR issues including absence and capability dismissals, reasonable adjustments, sick pay and other benefits. We also consider the impact of the amendments to the Act introduced in October 2004.
